Jordan Stewart scored a brilliant equaliser to earn Derby a point after all four goals were scored in the opening 32 minutes of the match.
Rob Hulse smashed the opener past Andy Lonergan before Callum Davidson struck from the penalty spot after Emanuel Villa brought down Ross Wallace.
Neil Mellor struck from 18 yards before Stewart's long-distance volley.
Lonergan denied Lewin Nyatanga, Darren Powell and Hulse while Przemyslaw Kazmierczak struck the crossbar.

"Although they were 2-1 ahead and deserved to be, the manner of their goals was a joke.
"In the second half for the first 25 minutes we played very well and looked more of a threat although they finished strongly."
Preston manager Alan Irvine: "I would have taken a point before the kick-off because this is a very hard place to come to.
"But we were disappointed after the first half because I thought we were terrific and we were disappointed to go in at two each.
"My job at half-time was to pick the lads up a bit because they were extremely disappointed."
