Marcus Tudgay and Deon Burton struck after the break as Sheffield Wednesday condemned Blackpool to their fourth straight Championship defeat.

Alan Gow headed over and later struck the post for Blackpool in a lively opening half that also saw Paul Rachubka deny the Owls' Leon Clarke.

Rachubka denied Jermaine Johnson after the break before Tudgay converted a cross from Etienne Esajas.

And the same player sent the ball in for Burton to convert from six yards.

Blackpool boss Simon Grayson:
"We will have to get ourselves out of this position with hard work on the training field.

"You don't just become a bad side overnight but there are times when we seem to be short of confidence.

"We are playing some good stuff from box to box but then the problems start. At the moment we just can't score."

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws:

"This is not an easy place to come to. At half-time I told my players to stop panicking in front of goal and that seemed to work.

"I thought defensively we were superb and it was great to get a clean sheet.

"I was delighted to see Deon Burton rise to the occasion and take his chance. The victory gives us something to build on in our games ahead."
