Clinton Morrison headed home the only goal in brilliant fashion as Coventry secured victory at Sheffield Wednesday.
The hosts almost opened the scoring when Leon Clarke's shot was deflected over the keeper but onto the bar.
Wednesday's Sean McAllister rifled the ball home from inside the area, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
Instead, it was Coventry who got the decisive goal when Morrison's header flew into the top corner to hand his side all three points.
Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws: "Talk about getting your pockets pinched. It was certainly that today.
"I'm disappointed for the players because they responded well from last week's defeat.
"At times we played it well and had umpteen chances to put the ball in the net, but failed miserably. You've got to take your chances and certainly in that second half they took their chance."
Coventry manager Chris Coleman: "We came here with a gameplan. We did to Sheffield Wednesday what's happened to us so many times this season.
"We never really attempted to play pretty football. We've not won here apparently for a long, long time and we said let's go there and do to them what's been done to us week in, week out.
"In terms of character and the players not going missing I thought we were fantastic."
