Chris Eagles came off the bench to inspire Burnley to victory over Coventry at the Ricoh Arena.
The home side took the lead from the penalty spot in the 40th minute through Elliott Ward after Graham Alexander had fouled Michael Mifsud.
Michael Duff pulled one back six minutes after the break before Eagles then set up Robbie Blake in the 88th minute with a clever ball.
And Eagles rounded things off with a spectacular strike moments later.
Coventry manager Chris Coleman:
"We don't want to be where we were last season - struggling at the wrong end of the table - but too many performances like that and we will be.
"I can't afford to let that happen and it's easy for me to say that but we've all got to be thinking the same thing.
"Hopefully this defeat will be a wake-up call."
Burnley manager Owen Coyle:
"We knew it was going to be tough but to go a goal down and then perform how we did in the second half is pleasing.
"We were very positive and changed our set-up to go for the win. When you do that you always risk losing the game.
"But we felt that three points were more important than one. It could have backfired but it didn't."
