Bristol City 4-1 Doncaster

Two goals from Michael McIndoe helped Bristol City to their first home win of the season against Doncaster.

The Scot put City in front with a penalty three minutes after half-time when Nicky Maynard was brought down.

Maynard doubled the lead on 57 minutes before Ivan Sproule added a third with a fine finish but the visitors hit back through Richie Wellens.

However, McIndoe secured the three points with a powerful strike from 20 yards in the 74th minute.

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson on Marvin Elliott coming off the bench to help the Robins score their opener:

"Marvin gives great energy to our side and it did not take him long to make an impact.

"We needed that first goal but overall I thought we played very well.

"We have worked hard on opening up teams this week and we created a lot of chances."

Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll:

"We made a slow start but then weathered the storm and finished the first half on top.

"Once we conceded the first goal it was always going to be an uphill battle but we stuck to our guns and kept playing our style of football.

"We may not have done enough to win the game but we could certainly have made the scoreline a bit closer."
