A dominant Burnley secured victory over Lancashire rivals Blackpool thanks to two second-half goals.
The home side were much the better side throughout but failed to make their dominance pay in the opening period.
The deadlock was broken as Martin Paterson cut in from the right before curling a low shot from 20 yards into the far corner.
The win was secured as Graham Alexander fired home from the penalty spot after Ian Evatt fouled Steven Caldwell.
Burnley boss Owen Coyle:
"There's no doubt we deserved to win. I was delighted at half-time, even though it was 0-0, because I knew that if we continued in that vein we would create chances.
"We were hurt by the first two games but we're delighted to be back on track."
Blackpool manager Simon Grayson:
"We got what we deserved - nothing. I warned the players that Burnley had something to prove after the game on New Year's Day and I think they did to us what we did to them.
"We were fortunately to go in at half-time at 0-0 because we could have been two or three goals down.
"Steve Kabba was missing with injury but I'm not going to use that as an excuse. Too many players did not perform."
