Swansea won the clash of last season's top League One sides

Swansea got a deserved first win in the Championship, a Paul Smith own goal setting them on their way after Leon Britton's shot struck him and went in.

Forest equalised against the run of play, James Perch heading in when Dorus De Vries flapped at Lee Martin's cross.

Wes Morgan fouled Tom Butler for a penalty, Smith saving from Ferrie Bodde but the latter following up to score.

The Swans saved the best until late on, Mark Gower's tantalising cross drilled in by Gorka Pintado's right foot.

Swansea boss Roberto Martinez:
"The performance was exactly what we wanted after last weekend's defeat and the way we've done it was a great advert for Championship football.

"Gorka's goal is as good as you will see at any level. There are strikers around who could score goals like that but they cost �6m or �7m."

"I'm more pleased with how we played in the second half than the first. It was fortunate for the players that it was 1-1 at half-time.

"We were fortunate to get the equaliser in the first half from nowhere. Either side could have scored at any point."
