Richard Cresswell has given Stoke a first-half lead
Stoke let slip a one goal lead as Sheffield Wednesday gained a vital point in their battle to beat the drop.
Richard Cresswell opened the scoring deflecting debutant Stephen Pearson's left-wing cross into the bottom corner from 12 yards for 1-0.
But Franck Songo'o's 20-yard shot into the bottom corner beat Carlo Nash in the 82nd minute to earn a point.
Jermaine Johnson went close to grabbing victory for the Owls in added time but his 20-yard effort was just off target.
Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws: "We are obviously delighted to have got a point out of it. If they can continue to play in the same vein, then we'll get out of it.
"I thought there was fortune on Stoke's side with the free-kick for Cresswell's goal. It was down to quick thinking.
"I feel we are getting closer to getting out of the bottom three."
Stoke manager Tony Pulis: "We are disappointed not to have won. We had that big chance from Cresswell with a point-blank header.
"Having said that, it was a difficult surface and the weather made it an end-to-end game.
"I thought we should have had a penalty but we've not really had much luck with these decisions this year."
