Jamie McCombe equalised as Bristol City drew at promotion rivals Charlton to remain top of the Championship table.Charlton took the lead after Zheng Zhi and Kelly Youga combined to play in Darren Ambrose, who slotted past Adriano Basso from 12 yards.
Chris Iwelumo then headed wide for the Addicks while Jerome Thomas failed to hit the target from 15 yards.
McCombe scored a headed equaliser from Lee Johnson's cross while Michael McIndoe hit the post with a free-kick.
Charlton boss Alan Pardew:
"We are one of the long-shots to go up automatically but we will keep plugging away.
"Looking at our lack of a run of results you have to say we are outsiders, but we are not giving up.
"By the same token we are mentally prepared to go the extra mile through the play-offs. The goal this season was always promotion."
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson:
"If we play like we did in the first half we will drop out of contention.
"We were a bit posey, and looked like we had been reading our own publicity. But we had words at half-time and came out with a much different attitude.
"We put a good team under pressure in the second half and I was delighted."
