Charlton boosted their Championship promotion hopes and added to struggling Sheffield United's relegation woes with a comfortable victory at Bramall Lane. Chris Iwelumo opened the scoring in first-half injury time, slotting in from close range after Paddy Kenny saved Darren Ambrose's strike.
The Blades failed to produce a response and Sam Sodje made it 2-0 on 82 minutes, heading in Ambrose's corner.
Stephen Quinn was sent off on 90 minutes for fouling Jose Vitor Semedo.
Sheffield United defender Chris Morgan:
"There were a few things said and sometimes it is good to clear the air - we can now look forward to going to Ipswich on Tuesday night. "We are disappointed with the result. This game is a reminder that we are not out of the woods yet.

"This result might be the kick up the backside that we need."
Charlton boss Alan Pardew:
"The result gives us a sniff of automatic promotion; just that really, no more than that. "The way the league is panning out it's going to be topsy-turvy. So there's still a lot to play for.
"We have to back it up with a few more wins this week. The most important thing for us is we are looking stronger. The players were terrific."
