Peter Halmosi's timely brace powered Plymouth to a fourth straight win against promotion rivals Burnley. Lilian Nalis opened the scoring for the hosts with a decent strike after Burnley failed to clear a free-kick.
James O'Conner drew Burnley level, heading home Kyle Lafferty's cross, but Halmosi restored the hosts' lead with aplomb from Steven McLean's pass.
The Hungarian then made it three late on with a neat finish and a late Clarets rally came to nothing.
Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock:
"There has been a freshness about the place with the new players coming in. "The training that we have been doing for them has been carried out to the letter and they stuck to our gameplan and got the result we wanted after losing 1-0 up at Burnley six weeks ago.
"They are blending as a team on their own but it's the work they have put in on the training ground that is benefiting them at this moment.
Burnley boss Owen Coyle:
"We made big individual mistakes at each of the goals but I thought we dominated the game. "There were periods in the second half where we were all over them, the football was terrific.
"Probably everything that could conspire against us did, but I will take an awful lot of positives from the game."
