Ten-man Charlton came from behind to snatch a point against battling Hull. Charlton keeper Nicky Weaver saved from David Livermore and Ian Ashbee before Frazier Campbell fired home to give the visitors a deserved lead.
Charlton levelled on 57 minutes after Jerome Thomas' free-kick caused chaos and Madjid Bougherra fired home.
Danny Mills then received a red card for abusive language after falling to the floor following an innocuous looking challenge from Caleb Folan.
Charlton boss Alan Pardew:
"We have a big decision to make about Danny. "The referee told me he sent Danny off for something he said, which is inexcusable. I've let Danny know that.
"The referee didn't help us one iota, though. Hull were deliberately taking their time at set pieces and putting in some very tough tackles."
Hull boss Phil Brown on Charlton's Danny Mills:
"Simulation is a key factor in any game of football. "If the referee gets his decisions right, the yellow and red cards go the right way.
"The simulation that happened in the first half - a suggested elbowing incident - was a bit naughty of the player, who was trying to get one of our players booked or sent off.
"Consequently, he got his comeuppance in the second half."
