Lee Grant saved from Tom Soares but Clinton Morrison headed Palace level from Mark Hudson's cross.

Palace secured victory when Scannell lobbed the ball over keeper Grant for his first professional goal.

"He is a sensible lad, he keeps his feet on the floor and he took his goal really well, like an old campaigner.

"He is my type of player. In fact he's the type of player I'm looking to sign in January - so you never know, I might not have to sign anybody."
