Norwich moved off the bottom of the Championship after they beat Plymouth. The Canaries got off to a dream start when on-loan striker Ched Evans' pace took him clear and he latched on to Jamie Cureton's pass to slot home.
Barry Hayles fired over and David Norris forced a fine save from David Marshall as Plymouth ploughed forward.
But Darren Huckerby scored from the spot after he was fouled by Paul Connolly, before Krisztian Timar headed in a late Argyle consolation.
Norwich boss Glenn Roeder
"The important thing is that we don't slip back now. "The Championship is so inconsistent in terms of results and it's important we build on this win and get another one on Saturday against Sheffield United.
"The boys are much more confident now, and even when we weren't playing well, they dug in and fought for every ball."
Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock
"We felt their penalty was a kick in the teeth but to be honest we didn't do enough tonight. "We got the ball in the right areas but the final shots, crosses and passes let us down.
"I was disappointed with the way we defended as a team as well. It was a lack of communication in our defence for the first goal and it cost us."
