Managerless Plymouth earned a win at Sheffield United in their first game after the exit of ex-boss Ian Holloway. Peter Halmosi side-footed the visitors into a 24th-minute lead after Sylvan Ebanks-Blake had played him through one-on-one with keeper Ian Bennett.
United have only lost once at home this term but were second best to Plymouth.
Ebanks-Blake was denied a second for the visitors when his shot hit the woodwork but they still won and moved up to fourth.
Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson:
"There are no excuses. It was the way we started. "You can't start at half pace and think you can take it up. There was no urgency or desire from us for the first 25 minutes.
"It is the most disappointing performance since I've been here."
Plymouth caretaker manager Tim Breacker:
"All we concentrated on was our previous form and what we've done in recent weeks. It was a fantastic result. "We had a few one-on-one's and hit the woodwork, but you'll settle for 1-0 with that performance any day of the week."
