King has scored in four successive games for Watford |
Marlon King starred as Watford thumped Coventry to move nine points clear at the top of the Championship table. King had already hit the woodwork when he set up Adam Johnson to score the Hornets' first goal at the far post.
Watford continued to press forward and King made it 2-0 himself, swivelling to smash the ball home, before setting up Darius Henderson to drill in a third.
Coventry had Ben Turner's header cleared off the line but Michael Misfud wasted the best of their other chances.
Coventry boss Iain Dowie:
"We were beaten by a side that were a bit better than us tonight. "When you give away three very soft goals, you are giving yourself a mountain to climb.
"They are very good at what they do. They are a powerful side and we at times coped with it very well and at other times we didn't."
Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd on King and Henderson:
"When they're like that there are few sides that can handle them at this level. "I've got four great strikers: Tamas Priskin, who got himself into some great positions tonight, and Nathan Ellington who is proven at this level.
"But we all have to remember we've all the work ahead of us still."
