Cardiff 2-1 Burnley
Paul Parry celebrates the winner with Peter Whittingham
Parry ended Cardiff's long run without a Ninian Park win
A superb strike from Paul Parry secured Cardiff's first league win at Ninian Park in seven months.

Joe Ledley put the Bluebirds ahead with an emphatic header after a classy cross from fit-again skipper Darren Purse.

Burnley battled hard, and half-time substitute Ade Akinbiyi brought the Clarets level with a far-post header from Stephen Jordan's cross.

Then Parry went on a run across the edge of the box, beating two defenders before scorching in a left-foot shot.

  • Cardiff manager Dave Jones:
  • "It was a tough battle, but we should have scored more than one, then they brought on their substitutes and we stood up well to the aerial battering.

"It's always nervous when there's only a goal in it, but we looked composed and our goals were quality - we have the players capable of doing that out of nothing, even when they're under pressure.

"We've played better than that and lost, but it's a credit to us that we've kept believing in the way we play and what we're trying to do."

  • Burnley manager Steve Cotterill:
  • "We knew it would be tough coming to Cardiff and it is very disappointing to go away with nothing after getting an equaliser.

"We gambled by putting on all three subs for the second period and it almost paid off.

"In the second half I thought we did enough to earn at least a point if not go on to win but it is always an uphill task when you go behind and we have to tighten up at the back."
