Barnsley helped their fight against relegation with a win at Plymouth. A 25-yard Lilian Nalis shot put Argyle ahead but Lewin Nyatanga headed in Brian Howard's corner to equalise.
A Barnsley counter-attack then saw Martin Devaney volley in from a Peter Rajczi cross only for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to pull Plymouth level.
Devaney struck another long range shot to put the visitors back in front and Istvan Ferenczi slammed home his sixth goal for the Tykes to seal the win.
Plymouth manager Ian Holloway:
"I thought Barnsley were fantastic but we were rubbish. That's the worst we have played since I have been here. "Too many people were saying we were unlucky to be knocked out of the FA Cup but let's get it right: we lost to Watford and we lost tonight.
"We have only picked up three points from 12 and that is relegation form."
Barnsley manager Simon Davey:
"This was a massive win but we need to build on it at Coventry.
"I have seen Martin Devaney hit some great shots in training but you cannot coach that sort of technique - he's hit two world-class goals. "Now we have got to get back home, refuel, rest and take this performance into Saturday's game at Coventry."
