Wimbledon boss Stuart Murdoch vowed to lift his side after the 2-1 defeat to Sunderland sent them into Division Two. "Next season will be different. The spirit of the players has been excellent all season but we realise we're not going to walk Division Two.
"Better quality is required in order to play the football we need to make an impact at that level, and the club's looking at bringing new players in.
"It was typical of our season in that we lost by a single goal," he added.
"After I lost my players in January I was resigned to relegation this season but we've not gone out with a whimper - we gave Sunderland a little bit of a scare."
