West Ham caretaker-boss Trevor Brooking was disappointed not to end his time in charge with a win.
The Hammers needed a late Don Hutchison goal to salvage a point with a 2-2 draw at home to Burnley.
Brooking will now stand down in order for Alan Pardew to take over as manager - bringing an end to his second period as temporary boss.
And the caretaker boss blamed his side for just picking up one point that sees them slip to fifth in the table.
Brooking said: "It's frustrating to only get a point after that many chances and I expected us to put more away.
"We gave away two sloppy goals, which is also disappointing, and we can't afford to do that if we want promotion."

Pardew witnessed the game from the stands and Brooking said he has an idea of what needs to be done. Brooking said: "Alan will have seen the positives but also the frailties in this side. We are still not the finished article and a lot more work needs to be done.
"From seven home games we've only managed three wins and in this division that isn't good enough.
"Burnley worked hard to give them credit but we have to be more clinical up front.
"David Connolly and Jermain Defoe all get plenty of chances. I hope they put more away, but we threw two points away."
Clarets boss Stan Ternent was pleased with the way his side bounced back from the 6-1 defeat to Ipswich.

He said: "The team played very well and I thought at one point we could have won. "They stood up to be counted and played with a lot of courage. After the Ipswich game it was important that the players responded and they did.
"It's a step in the right direction and I'm delighted."
Clarets' keeper Jensen denied both Connolly and Defoe on numerous occasions and had a huge role in the result.
Ternent said: "I was delighted for Brian. He played very well, particularly after the 'net rash' he picked up against Ipswich.
"But it was a great team performance and I felt we easily deserved the points."
