Birmingham managing director Brady found little love lost on the pitch as her husband struck twice to send the Blades to victory. It also wrecked the arrival of Curtis Fleming and Steve Vickers' at Birmingham. Nick Montgomery's first senior goal for the Blades set them on their way to a convincing Division One victory. A stunning second from Michael Brown and Peschisolido's double goals then completed the scoring. It was no more than United deserved, because Birmingham never really got started in a game which must have left them wishing Steve Bruce was ready to take over the club. Peschisolido was everywhere in a performance that delighted Bramall Lane. Montgomery put his team one up after 16 minutes, drilling home a low right-foot shot. That was the end of the scoring until 20 minutes into the second half when Brown hit an unstoppable 30-yard volley which left goalkeeper Nico Vaesen stranded. It was then time for the Peschisolido show - and his first two goals of the season were well earned. His first came after a driving run from Brown, whose run into the area was stopped by Curtis Fleming. But the ball ran loose to Peschisolido who sidefooted home from 10 yards. The little forward's second came from a far-post cross which was headed firmly into the bottom corner. The cross came from the impressive Montgomery, whose all-round display must have pleased manager Neil Warnock. The victory will push United up the table, but this defeat extends Birmingham's sequence to five games without a win and sees them falling down the table at a rapid rate of knots.
