Ibbitson saved Lewes from relegation from the Blue Square South last term
Lewes manager Steve Ibbitson has resigned and taken over the vacant role of club chairman.
Former Croydon Athletic boss Tim O'Shea has been appointed manager, with Neil Smith as his assistant.
Ibbitson took charge at the Dripping Pan in March 2009 following the resignation of Kevin Keehan.
The Rooks were relegated from the Blue Square Premier that season and currently lie bottom of the Blue Square Bet South with one win from 11 games.
Lewes general manager David Arnold told BBC Sussex: "Ibbo is a living legend at Lewes.
"He stepped into the breach in 2009 when we lost Kevin Keehan and were having a sorry season.
Steve firmly believes this is the way forward

"The owners had come to the end of what they could put in for 10 years - he and his assistant Jason Hopkinson stepped up to the plate and worked tirelessly for free."
On the appointment of O'Shea, Arnold added: "Steve firmly believes this is the way forward.
"He's really pleased, he thinks Tim is an exciting prospect, has got some experience under his belt already and thinks this will give Lewes the impetus it needs."
O'Shea will take charge of the Rooks for the first time for Saturday's visit of Dartford.
