But manager Andy Hessenthaler refuses to get too carried away with talk the title is practically won.
He told BBC Radio Kent: "It's far too early, there's a lot of football to play yet."
Maidstone United beat Tooting and Mitcham 2-0 to go fourth but Dartford, Margate and Ramsgate all lost.
Maidstone are now just a point off second place thanks to goals from James Pinnock and Ian Selley.
Joint manager Alan Walker told BBC Radio Kent: "You talk about teams taking time to gel but the players we have signed are very experienced, we only have about two who haven't done it at this level.
"We played Neil Smith at left-back, he's 37, but he was our best player. There's Ian Cox, Ian Selley, they've all been fantastic for us."
Dartford went ahead at Harrow Borough through Cody McDonald's eighth goal in five games but conceded twice in quick succession to lose 2-1.
Margate, who could be deducted 10 points as they have applied to enter a Creditors Voluntary Agreement which would send them bottom of the table, lost 2-0 at Hendon.
Ramsgate were beaten 5-1 at home by Harrow.
Tonbridge's game with Carshalton was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Welling United are just a point off the Blue Square South play-off places.
James Baker scored twice in their 3-2 win over Eastleigh.
Warren McBean scored two goals in Bromley's 3-1 victory at Bath City.
It was a bad day for the Kent clubs in Ryman South.
Only Sittingbourne and Ashford avoided defeat, both with late equalisers.
Cray Wanderers and Folkestone both missed the chance to go second with home defeats.
Thamesmead Town won 3-1 at Hillingdon in Ryman North, and Holmesdale have returned to the top of the Kent league beating previous leaders Hythe Town 3-1.
Manager Tony Beckingham said: "We're over-achieving. It's only our second season in senior football.
"Three years ago we were playing in Kent county league division one west. Our budget is modest to say the least."
There was much relief for Lordswood who finally got their first points of the season in a 2-0 win over Beckenham.
