Redditch United striker Owen Storey lasted only eight minutes in their draw at King's Lynn on Tuesday.
Julian Joachim put the home side ahead four minutes the interval but Reds midfielder Lee Downes equalised on 67 minutes with a long-range drive.
Redditch manager Gary Whild said he hopes Storey's facial injury will not keep him out of the side for long.
He told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "He's had 10 or 11 stitches so we're hoping, for Owen's sake, he can clear that up."
Whild added: "We are expecting good things from him this season, so hopefully he will make a quick recovery."
A crowd of 1,168 turned out for Kings Lynn's first home match in the Blue Square North and Reds midfielder Richard Softley paid tribute to Downes for his spectacular goal.
You're always looking to get your first positive result and I thought overall we probably deserved a point

"I think it's his first goal for about four years and it wasn't a bad strike from about 35 yards," said Softley.
"It was an absolute peach and it was well deserved as I thought he had a great game."
Meanwhile, after losing 2-0 at home to Gateshead in a poor performance on the opening day of the season, Whild admitted getting a decent result at King's Lynn had been vital.
He said: "You're always looking to get your first positive result and I thought overall, given the amount of effort we put in, we probably deserved a point.
"It's a hell of a long trip and you've got a partisan 1000-plus crowd, so it's not the easiest place to come to get a result."
Redditch will next be in action in the Blue Square North on Saturday 16 August when they will travel to Vauxhall Motors (kick-off 1500 BST).
Terry Goodwin will be BBC Hereford & Worcester's reporter at Rivacre Park and there will be regular updates on Redditch's progress in Sport on Saturday from 1400 BST.
