Ivory Coast and Marseille's Didier Drogba is a doubt for the Uefa cup final |
The Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba is a major doubt for Marseille ahead of the Uefa cup final against Spanish champions Valencia. The French player of the Year picked up an injury in Sunday's 1-0 defeat by Monaco in a clash with Julien Rodriguez.
The 26-year-old striker, who scored Marseille's both goals in their 2-0 semi-final win against Newcastle last week, has been a revelation this season after joining the club from Guingamp.
Even though the injury is less serious than at first thought, Anigo is concerned that Drogba might not be fit in time to travel to Gothenburg for the final next week.
"I hope he will be part of the trip but there is a real doubt," he said.
"We think he will be fit but we have to see how his injury will develop in the next few days. I can't imagine he could pull out."
Drogba has been a key element in Marseille's season, playing in 53 of the team's 55 matches in both the domestic and the European league.
He has scored 18 league goals and 11 in European competition so far this season.
