The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has suspended national team coach Wieslaw Grabowski, following the Warriors' embarrassing defeat to Swaziland last Sunday.

It will be at least two weeks until a decision on Grabowski's status will be made, but he is unlikely to continue as coach.

Zimbabwe's 2-0 loss to Swaziland in a Cosafa Cup quarter-final was the Warriors' worst-ever home defeat and Grabowski's first game in charge.

In the wake of the defeat Zifa has decided to appoint a technical committee to run the affairs of the national team, including appointment of coaches.

Previously the Zifa vice-chairman Vincent Pamire had sole responsibility for the national teams.

"We will take two weeks to set up the technical committee and it would be wrong to pre-judge their decision," said Zifa chief executive Charles Nhemachena.

"But Grabowski is unlikely to be retained as coach.

"There's been a general outcry after the defeat to Swaziland, and we want to avoid missing out on qualifying for the 2004 Nations Cup finals."

Zifa had asked for a postponement of the Swaziland match as they were expecting the game to be played in July.

As a result Grabowski had only three days to train the team.
