Fifa president Sepp Blatter has won an injunction to stop bribery accusations being made by Caf vice president Farah Addo.

According to a FIFA statement, a local court in Meilen, Switzerland, adjudged Addo's allegations "as inflicting substantial damage on Blatter's personal rights, particularly in view of the fact that Addo had waited four years to go public."

Addo, the president of the Somalian Football Association, claims that Blatter secured his victory in the 1998 presidential elections through bribery.

Blatter was elected successor to Joao Havelange as head of the game's governing body, pipping Lennart Johansson to the post.

The FIFA supremo claims the allegations of corruption are part of a growing "destabilisation and defamation campaign" against him.

Blatter is running for another term as president and he will be up against Cameroon's Issa Hayatou in the 29 May elections in Korea.

Addo currently finds himself involved in a number of legal wranglings, as he is also facing a lawsuit in his home country of Egypt, brought by Mohammed Bin Hamman, a member of Fifa's Executive Committee.

Bin Hammam was accused by Addo of offering financial gifts to officials from African associations before the presidential election in 1998 in order to secure their vote for Blatter.

The Fifa Disciplinary Committee has also initiated proceedings against Addo.
