Zambia's vice-president Enoch Kavindele has told parliament that the government is not yet ready to make the report public.

Kavindele's remarks came after an opposition MP, Sakwiba Sikota, demanded to know what was going on.

"What is it that government is hiding?"

The disaster happened as the team were on their way to Senegal for a World Cup qualifier.

Delays in Gabon

The military plane they were in exploded in mid-air and crashed into the sea off Gabon, killing all 30 people on board.

Sikota said the wait was an unacceptable burden on the victims' families.

"We want to know why the government has continued to torture these people by hiding the report."

"As long as the Gabon report is not given to us, then there's no transparency in government," added Sikota, who is also a lawyer acting for the victims' families.

Vice-president Kavindele admitted people were yearning to have an explanation, but claimed the delay was being caused by the Gabonese, who had yet to complete their part of the investigation.

"Yes, the Gabon issue needs a substantial answer, but the report is incomplete," he said.

He did not say when it would be ready.
