Egypt shocked at Ramzy sacking
Ramzy in action in the Bundesliga against Schalke 04
Fans feel Ramzy has been treated very harshly
Egypt fans have reacted with anger to the news that Hani Ramzy has been sacked by his club Kaiserslauten following his conviction on a sexual assault charge.

The Egyptian sports world was especially shocked as the player is well known for his decent behaviour.

The media are making comparisons between Ramzy's case and other cases similar to his in Europe - especially in England and Germany - where the players' clubs showed great support for their players instead of releasing them.

Ramzy denied that he sexually assaulted a German girl, stating on Egyptian television that, while he lost his temper towards the girl, he did not by any mean try to react in any sexual way towards her.

He confirmed that the incident occurred when he was out with some of his team-mates for dinner last October when things went out of control and they were involved in a fight.

He added he had had an early morning meeting with both the club president and the coach, and both understood the situation.

Ramzy said he would soon announce his apology to the municipality of the city and is expected them to understand the situation from his point of view.

Regarding Ramzy's career, Egyptian club Al Ahly - his first club - are said to be interested in seeing him return.

Ramzy has, however, made assurances that he is still determined to continue his career with Kaiserslauten, and it is still not the time for his European career to end.

The Egyptian team captain had announced before that he might move to England or Spain if he received any good offers.
