Egypt's Gamal Ghandour is amongst those selected
Benin's Coffi Codjia is amongst five referees from Africa selected to officiate at the 2002 World Cup finals.

He joins officals from Tunisia, Senegal, Egypt and Morocco on the 36 man list announced by Fifa.

In Korea and Japan he will be part of a team that includes such prominent names as Kim Milton Nielsen, Hugh Dallas and three-times referee of the year, Pierluigi Collina.

The selection of Codjia is the first representation of any kind Benin have ever had at the World Cup finals.

The full list of African referees is as follows:

Coffi Codjia (Benin)
Mourad Daami (Tunisia)
Ndoye Falla (Senegal)
Gamal Ghandour (Egypt)
Mohamed Guezzaz (Morocco)
