Ethiopia booked their place on Thursday after a 5-0 thumping of Zanzibar. They will be joined by Kenya, Eritrea, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and both the A and B teams from the host nation. Ethiopia's progress On Thursday Ethiopia demonstrated the progress they have made over the past three tournaments with their convincing victory over the island nation of Zanzibar. Both teams started confident but Ethiopians' aggressive and well co-ordinated approach paid off, with Tadesse Yelma scoring 15 minutes in, 20 minutes later they increased their lead through Kiros Afework. The Ethiopians pressed their advantage with another goal four minutes into the second half but that marked the deterioration of the islanders game. Within the sapce of 15 minutes Zanzibar had two players sent off. Ethiopia took full advantage and Abay Yordanos and Belay Fekadu both found the back of the net before the end. In Thursday's other fixture, Tanzania beat Djibouti with an easy 4-1 victory, notching up their third win of the tournament. Coach the key
It took Tanzania just seven minutes to score their opener. The second goal came minutes into the second half from Emanuel Gabriel. Substitute Nicholaus Nyagawa scored three minutes later, and John Mwansasu notched up the fourth goal in the 67th minute. Abdullahi Ismael picked up a consolation for Djbouti 15 minutes from time. Colonel Cesar Kayizari head of the Rwandan Football Federation, attributed Tanzania's progress to their new coach Burkhard Papper. "Since he came in the team has changed - in terms of tactics, technique, physical speed and playing as a team - they're now one of the strong teams to watch," Kayizari told BBC Sport Online. Earlier Kenya and Rwanda A had progressed to the quarter finals. Kenya beat Somalia 3-0, while Rwanda A overcame Eritrea 1-0. Kenya's Robert Mambo scored twice to ensure his side's victory. Tiyus Mulama was the other scorer. But coach Reinhard Fabisch was still disappointed with the quality of the play, going as far as calling the match "the worst in the tournament".
