Buckley lined up to replace Yeboah
delron buckley
Buckley has impressed in a difficult season for Bochum
Delron Buckley looks likely to escape the drop from the German Bundesliga even though his VfL Bochum side are going down a season after winning promotion.

The South African international is one of three Bochum players likely to be transferred at the end of the season, according to coach Bernard Dietz, and Hamburg is his likely destination.

Dietz confirmed that Hamburg have expressed interest in the 23-year-old, who has already won 20 caps for South Africa and also played for the under-23 side at last year's Olympic Games in Australia.

Yeboah is surplus to Hamburg requirements
Buckley, who missed Wednesday's international between South Africa and Italy in Perugia through injury, could well be a replacement for ageing Ghanaian superstar Tony Yeboah, who at 34 is rumoured to be heading out of the northern German club for the second time.

Yeboah's agent, Joachim Leukel, has been talking to the club about paying up the rest of Yeboah's contract, which runs to 2002, to allow the former Black Star to seek another club elsewhere.

Buckley has a contract until 2005 at Bochum but they are expected to demand and get a considerable transfer fee for the South African.

He has two goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances this season and has played a total of 60 matches in the top flight since joining Bochum in 1995 from South African amateur club Butcherville Rovers from Pietermariztburg.
