With the Premier League's top three all involved in cup games over the weekend, St Mary's took their opportunity to close the gap, winning 4-2 at Gymns.
St Mary's goals came from Martin Reilly (two), Steven Priestnal and a fortunate own goal.
Ciaran McNulty and Johnny Cain found the net for Gymns.
The three points keeps St Mary's title chances very much alive, as they are currently ten points behind leaders Peel but with four games in hand.
