Chelsea say Lampard sustained only a minor knock |
Chelsea have denied reports Frank Lampard has broken his toe - and insist he will be fit for the new season. Lampard took a minor knock during their US tour but is fit for the Community Shield game against Manchester United.
Chelsea assistant coach Steve Clark said: "He's fine for Sunday. He has got a small problem with his toe.
"But when you think the injury was caused four weeks ago, he hasn't missed a match and he has taken part in every training session."
Clarke added: "It's not a major injury but it's a little bit uncomfortable. But he's a great character."
A Chelsea spokesman said the England midfielder's injury had not even required any painkilling injections.

Lampard, who is currently negotiating a new deal with the club, has played in all of his side's six pre-season friendlies and is a pivotal part of manager Jose Mourinho's plans.
Chelsea beat Brondby 2-0 in the last run out when John Terry was absent, along with Claude Makelele, Michael Essien, Arjen Robben, Andriy Shevchenko and Lassana Diarra.
Terry has a toe injury but he and the other players should be available to face United in the curtain raiser to the new campaign.
