Garry O'Connor is unhappy playing for Lokomotiv |
Garry O'Connor's agent, Gary Mackay, is flying out to Portugal to try to hasten the Scotland international's departure from Lokomotiv Moscow. The former Hibernian striker is at a pre-season training camp but has asked for a move after struggling to settle in Russia following his 1.6m switch.
"Hopefully, I'll have a chat with the people in charge and then we will have a clearer picture," said Mackay.
"I'm neither optimistic or pessimistic, I'm open minded about the situation."
The 23-year-old O'Connor moved to Lokomotiv from Easter Road in March in a deal reported to be worth 16,000 per week.
But the move turned sour as O'Connor's partner, Lisa, found it hard to settle in Russia.
 | There are a few clubs from down south who have shown an interest |
"Garry is at the training camp and he has made it clear that he doesn't want to go back to Moscow," said Mackay.
"There are a few clubs from down south who have shown an interest.
"But first I want to clarify Garry's situation then I can clarify the situation for those clubs who are looking at him."
O'Connor's international career has also stalled after he failed to report back to the Scotland squad after their dramatic 2008 Euro Championship qualifying victory over France in October.
The player claimed that he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Walter Smith, who was then Scotland manager, was not personally informed by O'Connor and the player did not travel with the national squad to Ukraine later in the week.
O'Connor had not resolved the situation when Smith departed last week to take over at Rangers.
