Man Utd's total football
Phil Neville is not renowned for his goalscoring exploits.

But the Manchester United defender takes BBC Sport Online's goal of the week honour for the second time in five weeks with his opener against Sunderland at Old Trafford.

Neville's finish was by no means straightforward - cutting in from the right and latching on to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's pass before slipping the ball past Sunderland goalkeeper Jurgen Macho.

But it was not so much Neville's finish that caught the eye, but rather the smooth, patient, precise and deadly build up that preceded it.

It was complete, total football - the way the game should be played.

The move began with Fabien Barthez throwing the ball out to Mikael Silvestre.

And it ended 13 passes later after involving nine of United's players.

Only Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs did not touch the ball between Barthez releasing the ball and Neville slipping it past Macho.

Champagne football during a vintage first half by the Premier League champions.
