Former Bristol Rovers boss Gerry Francis is mulling over whether to quit football for good.

The former England captain, QPR and Tottenham manager resigned as Pirates chief on Christmas Eve after two members of his family were taken seriously ill.

He spent just six months in charge at the Memorial Stadium and club spokesman Keith Brookman revealed Francis was now pondering his future.

He said: "Football is not top of Gerry's priorities at the moment and he's going to consider what to do with the rest of his life.

"He always said he wanted to retire from management at 50 and he's just celebrated his 50th birthday so I think it's a serious comment."
