Gregory's Goal of the Week
BBC Sport Online's goal of the week is Neil Gregory's spectacular effort for Canvey Island against Wigan in the FA Cup first round.

Canvey striker Gregory struck two minutes from the end of the first round tie to send Wigan crashing out of the Cup.

His vicious volley ensured the first major shock of the FA Cup, as the part-timers beat the Second Division outfit.

Canvey's cause had been helped by Wigan having two players sent off, but Gregory's goal was worthy of winning any match.

There were only two minutes left when former Wigan player Chris Duffy picked up the ball on the left wing for Canvey.

He turned inside and floated a diagonal cross towards the far post.

The cross did not look dangerous and the Wigan defender had a free header to clear his lines.

However, Peter Kennedy could only direct his header back across goal towards the penalty spot.

The ball dropped and, with no Wigan players challenging, Gregory dispatched a stunning right-foot volley into the top right-hand corner from 10 yards out.

Wigan's keeper Derek Stillie had no chance as he stood rooted to his line, watching the ball fly past his left-hand shoulder.

Scoring to knock a league team out of the Cup is nothing new to Gregory either.

He scored one of the goals that put Port Vale out of last year's first-round replay.

Canvey manager Jeff King was delighted with his team's performance.

"We did very well, and I'm proud of all my players. It was a great goal from Neil Gregory," he said.

Former West Ham defender Julian Dicks was playing in only his second game since being tempted out of retirement. He was equally jubilant.

"People thought that we could come here and Wigan would give us a hiding, but we battled really hard, and the lads have done really well," said Dicks.

Canvey's reward for their victory is a home tie against Second Division Northampton Town in the second round.
