The Football Association's plans to build a new National Football Centre in Staffordshire have been approved.

The multi-million pound centre at Burton is likely to take around three years to develop.

The development is set to include 13 pitches, a media centre and accomodation for up to 300 people.

Protesters backing the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England had urged East Staffordshire Borough Council to reject the proposal.

But the Council's planners have given the go-ahead for the 360 acres of farmland at Rangemoor to be redeveloped.

All England teams, including the senior side and the Under 21s, will use the centre for training and big-match preparation.
