Gillingham's Simon King joins Plymouth Argyle on loan

Gillingham defender Simon King has joined Plymouth on a one-month loan.

King, 28, will be available for all Argyle's matches up to and including the trip to Crawley Town on 1 October.

King joined Gillingham from Barnet for £200,000 in June 2007, external and was the club's player of the year in the 2008-09 season.

However, he has struggled to get back into manager Andy Hessenthaler's side after suffering a serious ankle injury, external in 2009.

He missed the entire 2009-10 season due to the injury and made just four appearances for the Gills last season.

He has yet to make a start for Gillingham this term.

Argyle are in need of defensive reinforcements after Stephane Zubar quit Argyle last week.
