![]() | Thursday, 23 November, 2000, 11:32 GMT Flo goes to Rangers ![]() Flo to make his debut against Celtic on Sunday Tore Andre Flo has become the most expensive player signed by a Scottish club after completing his move from Chelsea to Rangers. The Norwegian striker's 12m transfer has been confirmed by the Scottish champions following a successful medical. Flo trained with his new team-mates on Thursday morning and was due to be officially paraded at an afternoon press conference. The fee to be paid by Rangers for the 27-year-old is twice the amount paid by Celtic for another Chelsea striker, Chris Sutton. Flo should make his debut in the Rangers side for Sunday's Old Firm showdown with Celtic, putting him in opposition to former team-mate Sutton.
"The player has undergone a medical and again everything appears to be in order, but the results of a few tests are awaited. "Completion of the transfer of the player's registration will take place tomorrow morning. "The 12m Scottish record transfer will see Flo join Rangers on a four-and-a-half year contract. "Our fans will understand that the club must take proper time and due consideration in all aspects of this signing. "The player will train with the team in the morning and a press conference will be held in the early afternoon."
That stumbling block was overcome after the player delivered a transfer request. The Norwegian flew from London to Glasgow on Wednesday and was whisked from the airport by Rangers press officer John Greig to hospital for a medical. He was later taken to Ibrox to discuss personal terms. Flo has been frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea managing director Colin Hutchinson confirmed: "Rangers can now start discussions with Tore Andre, because he has put in a written transfer request." | Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Other top Football stories: Links to top Football stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||
