British diver Ben Swain has been forced to call an end to his season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

World Championship finalist Swain injured his knee in training last week and will now miss the World Cup, World Series and Commonwealth Games.

Swain, 23, from Sheffield is booked for surgery but then faces nine months out.

He said: "I am really disappointed to have this injury at the beginning of the season because I was feeling strong and ready for the rest of 2010."

His 3m synchro partner Nick Robinson-Baker must now focus on individual medals for the 2010 season.
