British pair Tom Daley and Max Brick have qualified for Saturday's men's final of the synchronised diving at the World Championships in Rome. Daley, who on Tuesday became Britain's first world diving champion by winning the 10m platform title, and partner Brick qualified in 10th place. China's duo of Huo Liang and Lin Yue easily won the preliminaries with a total of 480.06 points. "It was an OK performance and we did what we needed to do," said Daley. "We wanted to reach the final and we have done that. "We are still quite a new pair and so this is all about experience for us and hopefully we can get a top eight finish in the final."  | 606: DEBATE |
Brick added: "I am really happy that we have gone out and made the final. It was our first major international and to make the final is great." The duo, who have only previously competed at two events, reached their first major international final with a points score of 396.36. Germany's Patrick Hausding and Sasha Klein of Germany were second with the Cuban duo third. Hausding and Klein totalled 447.24 with Cuba's Jose Antonio Guerra Oliva and Jeinkler Ernesto Aguirre Mano third with 427.38. American pair David Boudia and Thomas Finchum of United States were narrowly behind with 426.54. It is the final diving event of the championships before the focus turns to swimming. Daley, 15, is looking to complete a memorable double following his victory on Tuesday.
