McGlashan almost doubled her previous best T20 international score

Undefeated New Zealand will face rivals Australia in the ICC Women's World Twenty20 final after they crushed West Indies by 56 runs in St Lucia.

Rain halted play after 10 balls of the Kiwis' innings - but they went on to post an imposing 180-5 from 20 overs.

Sara McGlashan, sister of Black Caps keeper Peter, smashed two sixes in her 84 from 55 balls before being run out.

Stafanie Taylor hit 41 from 33 balls but the Windies never kept pace as Kiwi skipper Aimee Watkins took 3-26.

After opener Taylor was run out to leave the hosts 71-3 in the 11th over, off-spinner Lucy Doolan (2-20) found plenty of turn from the Beausejour track as New Zealand put the brakes on.

Doolan removed the hard-hitting Britney Cooper - who holed out at long-off - and had skipper Merissa Aguilleira stumped second ball as she tried to force the pace, the Windies finishing on 124-8.

With the men's team failing to make the semi-finals, West Indies had hoped to keep the Caribbean flame alive after Aguilleira won the toss.

McGlashan's previous best Twenty20 international score was 44 - but after coming in at 18-1 in the third over, the 28-year-old powered the White Ferns towards a competitive total, adding 93 for the third wicket with Sophie Devine.

Her innings was only ended by a superb throw from Shakera Selman, while the Windies used eight bowlers - including wicketkeeper Shemaine Campbell - as they tried to break the partnership.

New Zealand were losing finalists in both the World Cup and World Twenty20 last year as England romped home in both competitions, but the Kiwis will fancy their chances in Sunday's final against their trans-Tasman rivals.

The Southern Stars are also yet to taste defeat in this tournament - having beaten England on countback in their opening game by virtue of having hit the only six, after both the match and the super over finished level.
