Ebony Rainford-Brent and Jenny Gunn shared a century stand as England's women levelled their one-day series in the West Indies with a 13-run win. Beaten by 40 runs the previous day, England bounced back to post a total of 232-5 from their 50 overs in St Kitts. Rainford-Brent (72) and Gunn (57) added exactly 100 for the second wicket and Caroline Atkins weighed in with 44. Pamela Lavine hit 57 for the home side but they could not sustain the required scoring rate and were all out for 219. Katherine Brunt and skipper Charlotte Edwards took two wickets each and Danielle Hazell marked her England debut by having Stacy-Ann King stumped by keeper Tamsin Beaumont during a spell of 1-41. "I thought we showed plenty of fight today. I was pleased with Ebony Rainford-Brent's controlled innings and the energy that Jenny Gunn and Caroline Atkins brought to the crease," said England coach Mark Lane. "I thought Katherine Brunt bowled with more aggression today and it was a satisfying debut for Danielle Hazell - and good to see Tamsin Beaumont get her first victim in only her second game. "This sets us up nicely for (the decider on) Saturday when we're anticipating a big crowd." This time, however, they had the chance to bat first and did not waste the opportunity despite the loss of skipper Edwards, bowled by Stafanie Taylor for 14, in the 10th over. Rainford-Brent collected seven boundaries in a 116-ball innings to reach her highest score for England and Gunn batted aggressively to make her first half century since August 2007. Taylor eventually had Rainford-Brent stumped and also cleaned up Nicky Shaw in similar fashion to finish with impressive figures of 3-29, but Atkins provided the acceleration England needed in the final overs in an unbeaten 43-ball knock. England had the boost of an early wicket at the start of the home side's reply when Brunt had Taylor caught at mid-off with her fifth delivery. Lavine and Cordel Jack (13) added 66 for the second wicket but then fell in quick succession and when Hazell saw off King in the 30th over, West Indies were struggling on 98-4. Captain Melissa Aguilleira batted well for 44 before being run out by Holly Colvin and Deandra Dottin hit two sixes and three fours in her 29 off 11 balls, but they eventually came up short when Edwards dismissed number 11 Anisa Mohammed with 13 balls remaining. "The West Indies pushed us hard but in the end I think our experience in tight situations helped us win," Edwards commented. "There was a huge improvement in our game but we still know there are areas we can work on before Saturday."
