England Women fell an agonising four runs short of Australia in their final World Twenty20 warm-up game in Taunton. Needing 18 to win from the final over, Caroline Atkins and Katherine Brunt could only make 13 - taking their unbroken last-wicket partnership to 45. With opener Leah Poulton hitting 66, the Aussies laid down the gauntlet with a total of 142-5. Claire Taylor hit 42 from 25 balls to start England's reply but none of her partners could stay with her. In the other warm-up matches, West Indies beat Sri Lanka by 40 runs, New Zealand held India 17 runs short and South Africa bowled out Pakistan for 90 in a 36-run win. All of the teams take a day off before the tournament opener in Taunton on Thursday. South Africa take on West Indies in the opener before England, the world 50-over champions, face India.
