Pike in action for Queensland |
Australia have recalled Queensland all-rounder Kirsten Pike for the women's Ashes series against England. The 23-year-old replaces Clea Smith in a squad of 13 for a Twenty20 game, five one-day internationals and a Test.
The Southern Stars, who were last in action against New Zealand last July, will again be led by Karen Rolton, with Lisa Sthalekar as her deputy.
"The series against England will be a fantastic experience for the team," said chief selector Margaret Jennings.
"We are blessed to have so many quality cricketers playing in the Women's National Cricket league to select from at present."
England leave for Australia next week and will play three warm-up games prior to the Twenty20 international at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 1 February, which will be played before a men's game between Australia and India later the same day.
Australia squad: K Rolton (capt), S Andrews, A Blackwell, K Blackwell, K Britt, M Bulow, S Edwards, S Nitschke, E Perry, J Purves, E Sampson, K Pike, L Sthalekar.
