Hayes was on target to win the game for the Southern Stars |
Australia won a thrilling bowl-off 2-1 against New Zealand after their Women's Twenty20 International in Brisbane ended with the scores level. Medium-pacer Julie Hayes decided the match by hitting the stumps with her side's fifth and final delivery.
New Zealand totalled 141-7 after an opening stand of 80 between Rebecca Rolls (41) and Maria Fahey (43).
The home side responded with 141-5 as skipper Karen Rolton hit 11 fours in an unbeaten 71 off 59 balls.
She hit two off the last ball of the 20th over to tie the scores and both sides then had five attempts at an unguarded set of stumps, with Hayes eventually having the final say.
