"The match was a victim of the extraordinary wet weather experienced in Sydney over the last week," said a statement from Cricket Australia.

"Constant heavy rain made it extremely difficult for ground staff to prepare."

The teams will now play game four and fifth games of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday and Monday.
