England captain Clare Connor paid tribute to veteran seam bowler Clare Taylor, who took her 100th wicket in one-day internationals on Saturday. Taylor's 2-13 helped England to defeat Ireland in the third round of matches in the Women's World Cup, in which Connor was player of the match.
Connor said of Taylor: "She's just a legend to all of us. She's a great team-mate and is so team-focused.
"Any sort of achievement like that makes us even more proud of her."
The skipper added: "She hasn't played every game but she took her chance today and bowled her 10 overs on the bounce which isn't bad for a 39-year-old.
"We knew that six points today was crucial and the girls - even after losing a couple of early wickets - applied themselves to the task really well."
The score was 79-4 with England batting first before Connor and Arran Brindle featured in a big partnership which took the game out of Ireland's reach.
"It wasn't an easy wicket to bat on," said Connor. "it was hard to hit boundaries on a really slow outfield.
"We had to do some hard work when we were four down and to get 220 was a bonus.
"I don't think I've ever hit 80 and not hit a boundary so it was quite hard work."
